Spring Break Voluntter Oportunity

Are you going to be in Richmond this Spring Break? Eternity at VCU has a few events planned for the next week. Whether it is serving food to the poor, sustainable community gardening, or just coming together to share meals and conversation we have an event just for you! We will be carpooling to many of the events, so if you aren’t able to get around you can simply contact us and we can pick you up and you can just go with us!

We consistently work with the Central Virginia Food Bank to distribute 3 good meals per person per week to over a thousand families in the north side of Richmond. Every Wednesday at 9:00 AM we distribute cereal, milk, beans, pasta and other necessities. This week we’ll be distributing food, but we will also be helping to reorganize our distribution center at Eternity Church, 1900 Chamberlayne Avenue.

This Spring and summer Eternity at VCU will also be participating in a community garden. On Wednesday of next week we will begin the process of preparing the land and drawing designs for the garden. We’ll have Lunch and then a time when people are free to dig in the dirt and work up a sweat or to sit back and help plan the future beds. Experienced gardeners and complete novices are welcomed equally!

We will also be having a dinner as we normally do on Wednesday nights in our normal location of 126 South Laurel. Since we won’t have as much school work, we’ll be taking more time to play games, sing and dance and have fun! This will be a great time to relax after a hard days work!

The next morning we’ll meet back at 126 South Laurel and have a pancake breakfast before going back to the food bank to help organize the distribution center.

Every other Saturday we have a Grocery Shopping trip. Saturday the 20th falls on this schedule. We will be going to international grocery stores and Wal-mart to help provide for the need of students. No charge for the transportation of course!

Similarly, every Sunday there is a service at Eternity Church, 1900 Chamberlayne Avenue. It is an international congregation and all people are welcome and invited to attend.
